IIT Bombay devised DHRUVA
Students and researchers at IIT Bombay have emerged with a homegrown reciever chip called DHRUVA, which is to be used in smartphones and navigating devices to discover any location or routes within the Indian territory.
Dhruva recieve its signals from NAVIC (NAVigation with Indian Constellation) which is India's geo-positioning system established by ISRO, to facilitate accurate positioning within the nation. It also receives signals from US Global Positioning System based satellite to determine it's precision under all weather conditions.
It can also be converted into bits and processed by any standardized digital signal. It is also capable of cleaning all the interfering signals.
This patentable innovation has been funded by the Ministry of Electronics and Information technology (MeitY) and SAMEER (Society for applied Microwave electronics engineering and research) as the nodal agency.
